17 January 2013

Two Constables from Sandton police station, Linda Mlambo and Mahlang Shaku, appeared at the Randburg Magistrate Court today on charges of corruption. They were both released on bail of R3000 each and their case was remanded until 20 February 2013 for further investigation.

It is alleged that on the 6 January 2013 late in the afternoon, they pulled out a motorist who was accused of having drugs.  They then took a driver’s license and the motorist was later forced to draw R1000 from an ATM in Sunninghill Village.  An investigation lead to the arrest of these two members this week and they appeared in court today. An internal investigation against the members is in progress and they will be served with letters of suspension when they resume duties.
