EQUESTRIAN OFFICIAL

The Rider at the Equestrian Unit responds to crime on horse-back. The Rider supports the Stock Theft Unit, does border patrols, crowd control and has the task of Crime Prevention and Visible Policing in urban and rural areas.

What are the minimum requirements to become an Equestrian Official?

Completed basic police training, must not be overweight (maximum 100kg) and must not have knee or back injuries. It is recommended that a member who wants to join the Equestrian Unit has a love for animals and a willingness to work long hours.

Training:

Each member shall be given the opportunity to undergo training to equip himself/herself to fulfill his/her functions.

Where can you be stationed?

Equestrian Units in the South African Police Service.
