INVESTIGATOR
(Detective) |
A General Investigator is responsible for investigating
general crimes, gathering comprehensive and complete evidence at
the crime scene. He/she also conducts court driven
investigation, maintain and ensure case dockets, recruit and
maintain informers. Then he/she also compiles comprehensive
reports on investigated crimes or alleged crimes, communicate
with prosecutors and magistrates and gives evidence in court.
What are the minimum requirements to
become General Investigator (Detective)?
The individual must have at least two years functional
experience in a Detective environment, have successfully
undergone a Basic Detective course and be willing to undergo
polygraph, psychometric test and security clearance vetting
whenever required to do so. He/she must be computer literate and
have a valid driver’s licence (code 08).
Training:
Individuals undergo in-service training.
Where can you be stationed?
General investigators are stationed at Detective Services of
the South African Police Service.
