SOCIAL WORKER

A social worker is responsible for helping people to improve their behaviour or circumstances to enable them to once again play a meaningful role within the South African Police Service, their families, communities and the society. The social workers' task is aimed at preventing and eliminating social problems in the South African Police Service. Social Workers present pro-active programmes, render counselling services, trauma debriefing, family therapy and HIV/Aids support groups to South African Police Service employees.

What are the minimum requirements to become a Social Worker?

The individual must have a Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences.

Training:

Social Workers undergo internal training relevant for their field of work.

Where can you be stationed?

Social workers are stationed at the Social Work Services (at National, Provincial, Area level and some stations) of the South African Police Service.
