AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the control, maintenance and repair of specialized aircraft instrumentation and related parts of the aircraft. He/ she is responsible for the maintenance of metal parts for aircraft and support equipment and electroplating work, which can include the chemical treatment and preparation of parts. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers also learn to set engine controls and to test for their correct functioning.

What are the minimum requirements to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?

You must have an apprenticeship as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Refer to Artisan). You must not be colour-blind or have a fear of hight. An appropriate diploma/ degree in this field is also a recommendation.

Training:

In-service training will be provided by the South African Police Service.

Where can you be stationed?

At South African Police Service Air Wing Units.
