Career Quest
A Blacksmith makes use of modern mechanical tools and other
machinery to manufacture objects from steel or metal, for
example architectural steel strictures, crowbars, picks, etc.
Other aspects of the blacksmith’s work include drawings and
sketching, and interpretation of sketches. Blacksmiths usually
work in hot, noisy workshops. The blacksmith does a lot of
standing and is sometimes required to pick up heavy metal
objects.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Blacksmith?
Grade 10 or equivalent qualification. (Refer to Artisan)
Training:
In-service training under supervision of a qualified artisan
will be provided.
Where can you be stationed?
Logistics in the South African Police Service.
