A Transito Investigator is responsible for the investigation
and operations that involved metals. He/ She is responsible for
liaison with organizations such as, Telkom, Spoornet, City
Power, etc where theft of cables/aluminum/ferro-chrome,etc is a
major problem.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Transito Investigator?
You must at least have two years experience in a detective
environment, be familiar with the CAS (Criminal Administration
System), the circulation system and other mainframe in use by
the South African Police Service. He/she must have knowledge on
how to identify the characteristics of copper cables and must
also be willing to undergo a polygraph, psychometric test and/
or security clearance vetting.
Training:
The Transito Theft Investigation Course is presented.
Where can you be stationed?
After completing the above courses, a member can be appointed
as an investigator at any Organized Crime Office to deal with
transito-related cases.
