GOLD AND DIAMOND INVESTIGATOR

The investigator/police detective has to investigate matters investigating Gold and Diamond crimes. The police detective is suppose to prepare and manage a docket (case file) through the Criminal Justice System. He/she must do inspections in the jewellery shops and licence holders of mines and Diggings premises. The investigator has to control diamond and precious metals crime scene. He/she has to do the search work in a crime scene where gold and diamond was involved and seize evidence/ exhibits. The police official must be able to use the investigation aids. He/she must be able to investigate smuggling syndicates and networks. He/she must liaise with relevant stakeholders in the trail. The investigator must be able to open and register a case on the Criminal Registration System (CAS). He/she must be able give concrete evidence in court of law. He/she is suppose to build trustworthy relationships with the informers. The investigator must do the conducting and identification parades. He/she must arrest, detain and charge suspects. He/she must execute a holding operations.

What are the minimum requirements to become an Gold and Diamond Investigation Officer?

A person must have a grade 12 certificate. He/she must have two years police experience. A person should have a valid drivers licence.

Training:

Each member of the Gold and Diamond Investigation offices shall be given the opportunity to undergo training to empower/equip himself/herself.

Where can you be stationed?

Any person who meet the requirements can be placed at the: Police National Head Office and Provincial Offices and Area Offices and police stations.
