Backup officials are responsible for identifying faults/
problems on bar coding systems and the Criminal Information
System Management (CRIM). They receive South African Police 76,
South African Police 79 documents and attachments on CRIM
terminals and check and verify documents.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Backup Official (CRC)?
The individual must have a senior certificate, be computer
literate and familiar with the Criminal Administration System,
circulation system and other mainframe systems in use by the
South African Police Service. Be fluent in at least two of the
official languages of which one must be English.
Training:
The individual has to undergo In-service training of the
Backup System.
Where can you be stationed?
Backup Officials (CRC) are stationed at the Criminal Record
Centres of the South African Police Service: Detective Services
Nationally and at local Criminal Record Centres in the provinces
and in the areas.
