COMMERCIAL INVESTIGATOR

Commercial Investigators are responsible for developing and maintaining strategic direction (including policy and standards) to ensure the effective investigation of commercial crime, syndicate fraud, serious economic offences and computer crime.

What are the minimum requirements to become a Commercial Investigator?

One must have a Senior certificate (Grade 12), be in possession of a driver’s licence and have completed Basic Police Training. He/ she must have completed the prescribed crime investigators’ course and fraud & detective course. He/ she must be willing to undergo a polygraph, psychometric testing and/or vetting for security clearance whenever required to do so.

Training:

One has to undergo training in the courses related to commercial branch, such as, a Combined Basic Fraud and Detective Course, an Advanced Fraud Course, the Commercial Crime Course Level I to Level III

Where can you be stationed?

Commercial Investigators are stationed at any of the following: one of 16 Commercial Branches across the country and at the Serious Economic Crime Office.
