The Official has to ensure that functions of Media Relations
are developed for the South African Police Service. He/she has
to ensure that Media Liaison functions are performed smoothly on
a 24-hour daily service. The official must develop and maintain
a continuous and close liaison with provincial and area
communication officials. He/she must manage the effective
functioning of Media : Local Media Desk within the divisions at
Head Office.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Media Liaison Officer?
The person must have a diploma/degree from the recognised
Colleges and universities. He/she must be able to communicate
effectively in English. He/she should have five to ten years
service in the field of media desk. He/she must also have a
drivers licence.
Training:
Each member of Sections involved with Media Liaison shall be
given the opportunity to undergo training to empower/equip
himself/herself.
Where can you be stationed?
Any person who qualifies can be placed at Communication and
Liaison Services, i.e. at Head Office and Provincially.
