A Persons Data Official is responsible for searching for the
correct Criminal Record Centre reference numbers in order to
endorse the accused’s record with the correct information.
He/she updates criminal records by way of endorsements regarding
releases, suspended sentences, re-admittance and correctional
supervise according to prescribes on a daily basis. They attend
to basic enquiries on the Criminal Information Management system
(CRIM).
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Persons Data Official?
The individual must have a senior certificate, be computer
literate and be familiar with the Criminal Administration
System, circulation system and other mainframe systems in use by
the South African Police Service, and be fluent in at least two
of the official languages of which one must be English.
Training:
Individuals undergo training in Basic South African Police
Service Criminal Record Centre fingerprints, Criminal Record
Centre document and preparation and the fingerprint enquiry
module of the Criminal Information Management system.
Where can you be stationed?
Individuals are stationed at South African Police Service:
Detective offices countrywide.
