The Forensic Analysts (Fire Investigator and Arson Chemist)
are responsible for the investigation of fires and tracing
evidence. They perform comparisons of petroleum products and
presenting evidence in court.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Forensic Analyst (Fire Investigator and Arson Chemist)?
The individual must have a National Diploma/Bsc Degree in
Chemistry.
Training:
Individuals undergo internal and external chemistry courses
and further training on instrumentation and the presentation of
evidence in court is also provided.
Where can you be stationed?
Forensic Analysts (Fire Investigator and Arson Chemist) are
stationed at Forensic Science Laboratories of the South African
Police Service: Detective Services.
