FORENSIC LABORATORY ASSISTANT

The Forensic Laboratory Assistant, assist the Forensic Analyst in rendering effective services regarding the application of forensic science in the investigation of crime (including the collection of physical evidence at crime scenes by means of forensic techniques). Forensic Laboratory Assistants assist in different units in the Forensic Laboratories in the South African Police Service eg. Biological units, Chemical units, Ballistic unit and Scientific units.

What are the minimum requirements to become a Forensic Laboratory Assistant?

The prospective incumbent must have a matric certificate or equivalent. You must have relevant subjects that correlates with the unit you want to work at, eg. if you want to work in the Biological unit you must have Biology as a subject.

Training:

In-service training will be provided depending on the unit you are working at.

Where can you be stationed?

You can be stationed at Forensic Science Laboratories in the South African Police Service.
