The Psychologist in the South African Police Service provides
psychological assistance to personnel of the South African
Police Service. They conduct workshops, do trauma debriefing and
render counselling and psychotherapy. The psychologist uses
techniques such as interviews, psychometric testing and
workshops to help the South African Police Service personnel to
overcome existing problems and difficulties. He/ she also guides
them to develop skills of dealing with problems before they
arise. The psychologists arranges team building , personal and
leadership development programmes to satisfy the South African
Police Service employees so that they can provide a good
service.
What are the minimum requirements to
become a Psychologist?
The person must have a B. Hons Degree in Psychology,
Industrial Psychology or Personnel Management.
Training:
Individuals may be provided with internal training necessary
to enhance their skills as psychologists.
Where can you be stationed?
Psychologists are stationed at Psychological Services of the
South African Police Service.
