VIDEO TECHNICIAN

The video technician repairs and maintains various audio and visual equipment including televisions, video machines, video cameras as well as editing equipment. They also give technical assistance with studio recordings.

Skills such as technical, problem solving, the ability to work under pressure, the ability to do research and to perform routine tasks are necessary in this career.

What are the minimum requirements to become a Video Technician?

To start your career as a Video Technician you must have completed grade 12 at a technical school with relevant subjects such as Electronics, Mathematics and Science.

Training:

The video technician can further his or her studies in a National Technical Diploma at an Engineering College.

Where can you be stationed?

Video technicians in the South African Police Service are stationed at Publications and Audiovisual Media, Communication and Liaison Services.
