HOW THE SCAM WORKS
-
Fraudsters send undesirable e-mails to
e-mail users
-
E-mails are purportedly from the user’s bank
-
E-mails request user to click onto a link in
the e-mail to update their personal details

Once clicked, the link will divert the user
to a fraudulent or spoof website
-
The information is sent to the fraudsters by
e-mail, who defraud the user by using this personal detail
DON’TS
-
Do not use the URL contained in the body of
the e-mail
-
Do not reply to any of the e-mails
-
A bank will never request confirmation of
confidential information via e-mail or the Internet
DO’S
-
Instead of clicking on the hyper link, type
the website address into your Internet browser
-
Only use secure Internet banking sites
-
Beware of unusually long website addresses
