Good News StoriesIn May 2005, 2 detectives from the Precious Metals and Diamonds unit
of Bloemfontein arrested 2 suspects for the illegal sale of 21 rhino
horns.
In 1999 three paintings by Gerard Sekoto were stolen from the
University of Fort Hare. Two of the paintings are shown below. The
first is titled “Hotelabantu” and the second one is titled “The Garden
Worker”
In Oct 2005, the 2 sculptures as shown here were stolen in Pretoria
en route to a display. Any person with information is asked to contact
the Endangered Species desk at the contact listed below.
The sculpture shown below has the name of the artist “Seleko 97"
engraved in the base (top) of the sculpture.
