The SAPS’s commitment to children

The South African Police Service cares about the future of children and is committed to-

• reducing crimes committed against children;

• reducing crimes committed by children;

• supporting systems that help to correct child offenders' behaviour;

• dealing with issues such as drug and alcohol abuse among children;

• supporting campaigns that prevent children from getting hold of firearms, as firearms-

  • put children at risk of becoming victims of crime; and

  • encourage children to commit crime;

• supporting initiatives to address the situation of street children; and

• encouraging children to participate in constructive activities such as sports, arts and educational programmes.
