Implementing safety measures requires proactive planning. In other words, a community has to be prepared for any eventuality. Even though an individual can defend himself/herself to a certain extent, an alert community is more formidable deterrent. 

6.2 Measures of Prevention

Attractions Proactive Action
Easy access to a farm Access control – stand by your rights as a farm owner
A large amount of money is kept at the homestead Reduce the amount of cash by means of frequent banking
Several weapons are kept at the homestead Keep as few firearms as possible at the homestead 
Easy access to weapon safes Restrict access to weapon safes
Vehicles are available as means of escape  Implement measures to restrict access to vehicles
