The 14 accused men who have been found guilty of murdering six young men in vigilante-style in the open ground in a farm in Kraaifontein in 2014 have been slapped with different heavy sentences including life sentence and 20 years, in what the Judge Chantall Fortuin described it as a way of sending a strong message to smash the vigilante group to nothing. This happened on Wednesday 28 July 2021 in Western Cape High Court. Judge Fortuin slapped life sentence to first accused Tsepo Matabela who is 43-years-old for each premeditated murder he committed to six victims and five years of kidnapping, whilst his other 12 co-accused received 20 years imprisonment each for six murders and five years for kidnapping. Another accused Ayanda who was luckier than others receive 10 years imprisonment for murder and five years of kidnapping. The total number of years sentencing to all the accused was 1560 and all their sentences would run concurrently.
