A father and son have appeared in the Bellville Magistrates' Court for the illegal possession of abalone valued at R1m. Ephraim Jacobus Hendricks,52, and Chad Harold Hendricks,22, appeared in court on 16 February 2017. They were arrested on Tuesday, 14 February 2017. The pair formed part of a group of suspects who were nabbed on Monday, 13 February 2017. During Project Rambo raids, they were arrested at their Burgundy Estate home by members from the Hawks and SAPS K9 Unit when information was followed-up culminating in the seizure of 6496 units of abalone found stashed in a vehicle, parked in the estate’s parking lot.
