Seven suspects aged between 17 and 56 were arrested yesterday and this morning on three separate cases of murder, rape and hijacking.
A 56-year-old woman and her two sons aged 19 and 17 were arrested on a case of murder following an incident where a 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed several times during an argument on Saturday morning in Boys town, Crossroads.
The 17-year-old is appearing in Athlone Magistrates’ Court this morning on a charge of murder. The other two suspects will appear in the same court on Monday, 20 July 2020 facing the same charges.
The other four suspects are also appearing in Athlone and Wynberg Magistrates’ Courts on hijacking and rape charges.
Three suspects aged 18, 18 and 23 are also due in Athlone Magistrates’ Court today following their arrest this morning on hijacking charges. The trio were part of the suspects who ran away when police busted them on Wednesday night while were in a Toyota Avanza which was driven so reckless and ended up colliding with another vehicle in Colorado, Browns Farm. Police discovered that the vehicle was reported hijacked in Gugulethu early this month. One suspect was arrested during the incident.
The other suspect, 26 is due in Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today after he was arrested in connection with a case of rape. The suspect allegedly raped his girlfriend on Wednesday in Browns Farm.
Members were applauded for effecting these arrests to ensure that justice is served.
