NORTHERN CAPE – Nkanye Matshidiso (28), also known as ‘papa’, is expected to appear in the Virginia Magistrates' Court on Friday following a nationwide manhunt by the Hawks for an alleged armed robbery at the Windsorton police station, Northern Cape.

Matshidiso was arrested on Wednesday by Park Road Task Team in the Free State Province after his picture was circulated on Tuesday through media wanted for 2019 Windsorton police station attack.

A group of suspects attacked and pointed police officials who were on duty with firearms and tied them up before leaving with two R5 rifles, four 9mm pistols and ammunition. It later transpired that they were also involved in yet another armed robbery at a BP garage in Virginia where one victim was wounded after several people were robbed of their personal items.

Three of Matshidiso’s accomplices, Godfrey Dabie (32), Washington Tawanda (26) and Pule Sephoye (30), have already been arrested and they still remain in custody.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation extends its appreciation to the media and members of the public for the assistance and efforts that led to the arrest of the suspect within 24 hours. Your cooperation in fighting crime is commendable.
