Seven suspects are due to appear in court following their arrests on crimes ranging from house robbery, possession of stolen and hijacked vehicles.

A 46-year-old suspect is appearing in Athlone Magistrates' Court today following his arrest during a road block conducted by police and Traffics on Wednesday morning in Govan Mbeki, Browns Farm. The suspect was arrested in a vehicle with no registration number and disc. The vehicle was reported stolen in June this year in Samora Machel.

Five other suspects aged 20, 22, 23, 24 and 26 were also arrested on Wednesday in Harare, Khayelitsha in a vehicle which was hijacked earlier in the day near Sweet Home Farms Informal Settlement in Samora Machel. The complaint alleges he was standing at the robots when suddenly suspects appeared threatened him with a firearm and pulled him out of the vehicle. The suspects then drove away with the vehicle.

Meanwhile an 18-year-old suspect was also arrested on a house robbery charge which occurred on Tuesday in Mazizini Street in Browns Farm.  The complainant alleges the suspect and accomplices entered the house wearing masks. One suspect armed gun pointed the children while the other suspects ransacked the house. The suspects took a new stove, microwave, plasma TV, a lap top, clothing, shoes and fled with the items in a white Toyota Avanza.

Through networking police managed to catch the one suspect  and are tracing the outstanding suspects.

The six suspects are expected to appear in Athlone Magistrate Court next week. The 18-year-old suspects will appear on a house robbery charge and the five suspects for the possession of a hijacked vehicle.
