DURBAN: 30 September 2020 – Police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit embarked on an operation yesterday at Richards Bay in the fight against drug trade in the province.

It is alleged that the suspect was transporting and distributing drugs to local dealers for packaging and resale. After an intense investigation by the team, the suspect was finally nabbed. A 38-year-old man was arrested in a flat at Arboretum in Richards Bay. He was found in possession of 27 clear plastic packets of pure heroin powder. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R80 000-00. The suspect will appear before the Richards Magistrates' Court this morning for being in possession of drugs.

The Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thulani Gonya commended the team for the arrest of the suspect.
