CROWD IS SHOUTING JUSTICE FOR THE LATE LT COL CHARL KINNEAR: BISHOP LAVIS
2020/10/12      |  Written By:  Warrant Officer J Swartbooi   |   Province:  Western Cape

BISHOP LAVIS: Scores of angry Community members lined the pavement opposite the Bishop Lavis Magistrates' Court in support that the accused, as per charge sheet in the murder case of a senior police official, be denied bail. Shouts to the effect of “LET HIM ROT IN JAIL” was audible from outside court.

The matter returned to court today Friday, 14 October 2020, for the matter to be transferred to another court for a formal bail application. The prosecutor informed the Court in his address, that with the previous appearance of the accused, the state noted that they would request that the matter be transferred to another court due to safety risk at Bishop Lavis Magistrates' Court. Today, the state regrettably informed the Court, that they are still awaiting confirmation from the Regional Court President to allocate a suitable court in which a formal bail application will be done.

The matter was remanded until Wednesday 14 November when the state will hopefully be in a position to set a new remand date as arranged in the Regional Court.
