SUSPECTS BUSTED DURING OPERATIONS: NYANGA

A total of twenty-nine (29) suspects were apprehended during operations conducted on Thursday and early morning today in the Nyanga policing precinct.

Five suspects were arrested yesterday morning at about 02:30 while sitting in a suspicious vehicle in Crossorads. The members were busy with crime prevention duties when they spotted the suspicious vehicle, a silver Ford Figo with five occupants in New Eisleben Road. They tested the vehicle and came out reported stolen in August in Grassy Park. All five were arrested and detained.

Three suspects were arrested while offloading presumably stolen goods. Members acted on a tip-off about suspects that were offloading plasma TV ‘s at an address in Fumba Street in Old Crossroads. The members pounced on the suspects while were busy offloading three plasma TV’s, a laptop and different TV remote controls. The suspects were questioned about ownership and could give a satisfactory response. They were all arrested and detained.

Two other suspects were arrested yesterday after they hijacked a vehicle while standing at the robots in the corner of Klipfontein and Eisleben Road. The complainant alleged one suspect gun pointed him and instructed him to open the vehicle. They then drove with the vehicle and one suspect walked with the complainant to an informal settlement where he robbed him of his two cellular telephones, a lap top and a driver’s licence. The trio were later busted.

Nine other suspects of which six were wanted suspects were arrested during two tracing operations conducted from last night. The suspects were arrested on crimes ranging from robbery, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, pointing of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Two other suspects were arrested for the possession of ammunition and assault.

The members were praised for their successes.
