Two suspects are expected to appear in court following their arrest yesterday while they were stripping a vehicle which was hijacked earlier in Browns Farm, Nyanga.

The complainant alleges he was about to leave home in Sheffield Road when he was approached by two suspects  who demanded his car keys and drove away with his vehicle. Shortly after the incident was reported the suspects were busted while busy stripping the vehicle between the shacks in Ramaphosa Informal Settlement in Browns Farm.

The duo aged 23 and 30 were arrested and detained. They are due to appear in Athlone Magistrate Court tomorrow facing charges of hijacking.

In a separate incident  three suspects aged between 31 and 34 are due in the same court today facing charges of kidnapping and extortion.

It is alleged the complainant visited her friends on Friday last week in Nyanga. They were drinking together but when they realised they had no money to buy more liquor they demanded money from their friend and instructed her to call her family to ask for money.

She did as instructed because she was scared. She received some money from her family but the trio repeatedly demanded more money from her and when she wanted to leave they did not allow her.

She later managed to flee over the weekend.
