Sandton: Guardians embarked in the various operations in the crime hot spot areas in Baccleuch include foot and vehicle patrols as well using other crime preventative methods in deterring crime. The partnership of Sandton Guardians with SAPS and Security Companies has yield the good results of two suspects arrest this week.

On Monday, 19th October 2020 at about 22:30, members Sandton Guardians were patrolling the area at the corner of Gibson and Pretoria Main in Baccleuch when they notice three suspicious men between 23 and 30 years old.

When they approached them, one suspect got panic and the member of the guardians reacted swiftly in order secure them for a search. One suspect dropped the imitation firearm on the ground and ran to the bush. Other suspects, one with imitation of firearm and knife were found in the suspect’s possession during the body search.

The suspects were apprehended with assistance of the police charge for possession of imitation firearms and dangerous weapon. On Wednesday, 21st October 2020 they will appear in Alexandra Magistrates' Court.

Station Commander of Sandton SAPS applauded the job well done by Sandton Guardians and encouraged other communities to join in sharing of the responsibility.
