THREE BUSTED FOR MURDER AND POSSESSION OF A PROHIBITED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION: NYANGA

Three suspects are due to appear in court following their arrest in the area of Browns Farm and Lusaka, Nyanga.

Two suspects aged 24 and 33 were arrested early today for the possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition in Ncewula Street in Browns Farm. Law Enforcement officials deployed in Browns Farm were busy conducting crime prevention duties early today at about 05:20 when they spotted a Volkswagen Sedan which suddenly stopped and reversed in a high speed when it saw the officers.

The vehicle crashed into a residential property and two suspects jumped and started running. The officers chased the suspects and were both caught. During the search a firearm with no serial number was recovered and six different live rounds of ammunition.  The vehicle which had no disc was seized.

In a separate incident a 34-year-old suspect was arrested after he and his homeboy assaulted a 28-year-old man they were accusing of stealing last night in Lusaka, Nyanga. The victim was rushed to a medical facility and later succumbed to injuries. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the Mozambican man. His accomplice is on the run.

All three suspects aged, 24, 33 and 36 will appear in Athlone Magistrates' Court on Monday, 23 November 2020 on charges of murder, possession of a prohibited  firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

The members were applauded for their proactivity and vigilance which led to these successes.
