As part of a continuous effort to educate communities about the scourge of violence against women and children, Hartbeespoortdam and Klerksdorp held awareness activities respectively on Friday, 4 and Saturday, 5 December 2020. 

In Hartbeespoortdam on Friday, 4 December 2020, members working together with their counterparts from Mooinooi embarked on an awareness in which they urged women to break the vicious cycle of abuse. The event which saw Human Rights Commission (HRC) for North West, Gauteng and Limpopo region also taking part as major stakeholders, was held at Village Mall in Hartbeespoortdam. As part of the activity, educational material such as pamphlets were distributed to members of the community. Furthermore, Mooinooi police station members handed out to the public at the local clinic.  

In Klerksdorp, the station in collaboration with Community Police Forum (CPF), Neighbourhood Watch and security companies held a march around the streets of Alabama on Saturday, 5 December 2020, as part of 16 Days of Activism to say NO to Gender Based Violence (GBV), human trafficking and all sorts of violence against women and children.

The activity was also attended by the station’s Visible Policing Commander, Colonel George Mokgosi and CPF Chairperson, Mr Mahommed Cajee. During the activity, educational material for domestic violence, break the silence on abuse and sexual offences were distributed to the attendees.
