HARD LIVING GANG MEMBER ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARM: BISHOP LAVIS

BISHOP LAVIS: The Station Commander of Bishop Lavis SAPS, Brigadier Christopher Jones, lauded members of the Anti-Gang Unit for their success, taking illegal firearms off the streets in an already volotile Bonteheuwel.

The members was officially on duty on Wednesday 16 December 2020, fulfilling duties in Bonteheuwel, when one of the memebrs received information of firearms and drugs being stored at an identified address in Swartysterhout Street. When the members arrived at the address, they entererd the premises with permission of the male person that was at home. During the search, One(1) Luger 9mm Pistol filled with One(1) Magazine and Fourteen(14) live rounds of ammunition was found hidden in a coupboard. 

The male person confirmed that the firearm belong to him, though he could not provide a valid firearm permit to be in possession of such a firearm. The suspect, One(1) Twenty  Five(25) year old male, a member of the Hard Living Gang was arrested. Once formally charged the suspect will make a court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates' Court to answer on a charge of Illegal possession of a Prohibited Firearm.
