Four suspects are due to appear in court this week following their arrest in the act of crime this morning and yesterday in the Browns Farm area.

This morning at about 07:57 two suspects  aged 15 and 16 were busted just after robbing an e-haling driver in Mkhuncuzi Street in Browns Farm. The driver responded to a request and when he arrived at the spot he was approached by the caller. He opened the doors for the caller but as he was getting inside the vehicle two unknown men came in. The requester started assaulting the driver and they robbed him his cell phone, cash and car keys but the suspects were busted just before they could leave. The two were arrested by Law Enforcement officials who were on patrol in the area. One suspect managed to flee with the cell phone and cash.

The other two suspects aged 24 and 35 were arrested yesterday for an attempted hijacking in Tywaka Road in Browns Farm. The two were arrested while robbing another driver whom they had requested to drop them in town. When the driver arrived the requester entered the vehicle and more suspects entered just after him and they tried to rob cash and cell phone. A police van which was on in the vicinity came to the rescue of the driver  while he  was struggling with the suspects.

The two were arrested and detained.

The four suspects are expected to appear in Philippi and Athlone Magistrates' courts this week on robbery and attempted hijacking charges.

The members were applauded for the arrests they have made in an area which is the main hot spot of hijackings and all other serious crimes.
