Philippi-East: In order to combat serious-and-violent crime, vigilant police members on patrol arrested a carjacker in Philippi-East on Sunday, 24 January.

The 34-year-old man from Montana was arrested after police members on crime prevention duties visited a local scrapyard and found the suspect busy stripping the motor vehicle and randomly tested the vehicle for ownership.

It was positively linked to a carjacking case that happened during January in the Delft policing precinct.

The suspect appeared in the Athlone Magistrates' Court on Monday 25 January.
