Five suspects are due to appear in Court next week following their arrests on charges ranging from hijacking, armed robbery, possession of stolen vehicle and goods.

Three suspects aged 23, 26 and 27 were arrested on Thursday after they hijacked a truck in the Browns Farm area. The truck driver was on his way out of Browns Farm while standing at the robots in the corner of Ngulube and Govan Mbeki Roads he was approached by two unknown suspects who demanded keys of the truck. The suspect’s intention was to drive the truck but could not manoeuvre. He then instructed the driver to drive the vehicle to Endlovini in Harare where they with the assistance of community members off loaded all the goods that were inside the truck.

The suspects then instructed the driver to drive away with the truck. While the truck driver was driving out of the shacks he stopped a police vehicle and reported the matter. Police responded and arrested the suspects and confiscated the stolen goods. The trio were arrested and detained in Nyanga.

A 22-year-old was also arrested yesterday on hijacking charges. The complainant was delivering couches which were advertised on FACEBOOK market place. When the driver arrived at the address the buyer changed his story and told the complainant that what they wanted was only money and cell phones. The complainant was robbed but police who were on patrol busted the suspects and recovered all that was robbed including the vehicle with the couches. The suspect was arrested.

Meanwhile another suspect, 19 was arrested on armed robbery charges. The suspect and accomplices robbed staff personnel who were busy assisting employees of another company in Browns Farm, they robbed cell phones and a vehicle that was parked during the session and

The suspects are due to appear in Athlone Magistrates’ Court on charges of armed robbery, hijacking and possession of stolen vehicle and property..
