Five suspects are due to appear in court this week following their arrest after they were involved in a hijacking and robbery case of an e-haling driver yesterday afternoon in Mazizini Street in Browns Farm.

The suspects allegedly accosted and hijacked the driver who was responding to a request from Brown Farm to Century City.

Police who were on patrol came across the victim who informed them that he was just hijacked. Police took the victim with them and drove down the same road and just in a short space of time the victim spotted and pointed out the suspect who was part of the group that robbed him. Police caught the suspect while attempting to run.

The 19-year-old suspect was found in possession of two cell phones which were robbed from the driver. He was arrested and detained.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three teenagers aged 16 and an 18 year old suspect this morning in Browns Farm.

Once charged the suspects would appear in Athlone Magistrates' Court on robbery and hijacking and charges.

The Sector Team was commended for their achievement.
