SUSPECTS NABBED IN POSSESSION OF A VEHICLE STOLEN DURING A HOUSE ROBBERY IN CROSSROADS: NYANGA

A 23-year-old suspect was nabbed yesterday (11/02) in possession of a vehicle he and accomplices robbed during a house robbery they committed yesterday in Crossroads area.

The complainant was asleep when he was woken up yesterday morning (11/02) at about 03:30 and noticed three unknown suspects inside the house. The suspects then demanded the complainant’s car keys; took a flat screen television and a cell phone and drove away with her vehicle.

With the assistance of a tracker company the vehicle was recovered with one suspect in the area of Crossroads. The suspect was arrested and detained.

This morning (12/02) three suspects aged 21, 48 and 61 were arrested after 27 parcels and a bag weighing 13.84 of dagga were recovered inside their residence in Amsterdam Road in Browns Farm. Members acted on a tip off about the dagga being sold at the address. They searched the house and recovered the dagga. The three will once charged appear in Philippi Magistrates' Court for dealing in dagga.

Three other suspects aged 25, 32 and 36 were also arrested during a tracing operation conducted last night.  The suspects kidnapped the complainant after accusing him of refusing to release his girlfriend’s child. They kidnapped him from Nyanga and drove with him in a Toyota Quantum, threatened him with a knife and pointed him with a firearm. Further investigation led to their arrest.

The trio are due to appear in Athlone Magistrates' Court on kidnapping charges.

Meanwhile integrated operations conducted this week at various illegal outlets in the precinct resulted in the apprehension of seven suspects and confiscation of 1857.01 litres.

The suspects would appear in different Magistrates’ Courts facing various charges.
