MUIZENBERG: On Wednesday, 24 March 2021 at approximately 11h00, members of Muizenberg SAPS  in Cape Town arrested a 54-year-old suspect in Costa Da Gama. This is after they received a complaint from the suspect's ex-girlfriend that the suspect was refusing to give her her belongings.

She also tipped the police that the suspect was manufacturing liquor, cultivation dagga and magic mushrooms illegally at his home.

The members approached the residence and after a thorough search, came across 22x male and female dagga plants in the backyard, 42x containers containing magic mushrooms, 7x 20 litre containers containing homemade vodka and a big brewing kettle. One bottle containing mushroom and bottles containing dagga were also found inside the premises and confiscated.

The suspect was detained at Muizenberg SAPS on a charge of manufacturing or distribution of liquor other than as permitted and made his first appearance in the Muizenberg Magistrates court. He was released on R3000 bail and will appear in court again soon.

Muizenberg Station Commander, Colonel Vassie Naidoo, was pleased with the arrest and acknowledged the tireless and intense work by the members.
