Two Suspects  remained in custody after appearing in the Palm Ridge Court Magistrates' Court for possession of illicit cigarettes worth an estimate of R15 million.

The suspects were arrested by Highway Patrol members on Saturday, 17 April in the evening.  The incident happened on N12 to Witbank where a truck and the trailer was full of illicit cigarettes.  When the truck was stopped and search it was found that the driver and his co-driver a foreign nationals, who later produced false documents to the members.  They were arrested on the scene.

Police are fighting crime of all the illicit cigarette that are transported to the province.  Though it is said that a large number of illicit cigarettes is consumed in the continent, community members should know that illicit cigarettes are not just harmful to the economy (that means we lose in excise revenue every year. That sort of revenue would build quite a few more schools, roads and houses which is needed in the community.) but often also to smokers who consume them with low quality dangerous substances.  Community members should be discouraged to smoke illicit cigarettes just like discouraging community member to abuse alcohol and drugs.

Report the suspicious or the people who are selling so that they can also be arrested to serve in jail for selling and transporting cigarettes in the province.
