2021/04/30      |  Written By:  Sergeant T Tshabile   |   Province:  North West

In a bid to reach out to rural communities, Mahikeng SAPS in collaboration with Stock theft Unit, representatives from Barolong Boo-Ratshidi Tribal Authority and Community Police Forum (CPF) attended a meeting near Ramatlabama with Thorndale and Lanric farmers on Tuesday, 20 April 2021.

The purpose of the meeting was to educate farmers about what the CPF entails as well as outlining guidance regarding formation of Sub-forums.

In addition, Warrant Officer Tlhagiso from Mahikeng Stock theft Unit emphasised the importance of brand marking and how it benefits the investigation processes as the state is able to produce convictions due to sufficient evidence by complainants where cases have been registered.

In conclusion, farmers were urged to do a background check when employing herdsmen and to sustain a healthy relationship amongst themselves at all times.
