POLICE ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY POLICING RELATION: BEKKERSDAL

The West rand District Communication and Social crime prevention officers from the 13 district stations, Department of community safety, Rand west traffic police, community policing patrollers conducted an awareness campaign around the Bekkersdal policing precinct with the aim to address the crimes that has been affecting the community.

The members were driving in a motorcade and at the same time engaging through a load hailing and engaging one on one with the community educating them how to avoid falling prey to criminals and encouraging them to work hand in hand with the police.

Crime tips related to hijackings, business and residential burglaries and know your neighbor were distributed. The community was also cautioned about buying, selling and dealing in stolen buying, dealing and selling and dealing in and urged to report any criminal behavior immediately to the police.

The entourage later proceeded to the N12/R28 crossing and further engaged with motorist on trends of hijackings whiles the traffic police enforced their bylaws in terms of the illegal hawkers around.

The Station Commander Colonel Phumelele Matamela on behalf of the District Commissioner Major General Kekana thanked and commended the members for job well done and further thanked the stakeholders for their support and always availing themselves in the fight against crime.

“ We have a constitutional obligation to ensure all acts which may threaten the safety and security of any communities, therefore let us work together and make Bekkersdal a better place” said Matamela.
