TWO GANGMEMBERS ARRESTED AT COURT CELLS IN POSSESSION OF DRUGS: BISHOP LAVIS

BISHOP LAVIS:  An Intelligence driven operation focussing on activities around the Magistrates' Court in Bishop Lavis, let to the arrest of suspects in custody on Thursday 13 May 2021, when they were found in possession of Drugs.

It is alleged that court orderlies received a tip off that drugs entered the holding cells and that it was destined for a gang member, appearing on another case. When the police members searched the cells , they found 58 Mandrax Tablets, in possession of a 28-year-old male who is a known member of the 27 Prison Gang. A total of 4 sachets of methamphetamine, 1 stop of dagga and 1 Mandrax tablet was found in possession of a 30-year-old male, who belong to the 26 Prison gang. Both suspects was arrested and detained at Bishop Lavis Police cells. The duo will make a court appearance at the Bishop Lavis Magistrate today, Friday 14 May 2021, to answer on a charges of Illegal Possession of Drugs.

The Station Commander of Bishop Lavis Police, Brigadier Christopher Jones, Lauded his members for their vigilance and also praised the informant who did not shy away to share the valuable information.
