MFULENI DETECTIVES ARRESTED SUSPECT FOR POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

WESTERN CAPE: 20 JUNE 2021 - On Saturday 2021-06-19 at about 09:30, the vigilance of three Mfuleni police detectives conducting suspect tracing operations in the Wesbank area, led to the arrest of a known suspect who was found to be in possession of a prohibited .38 special revolver and 10 rounds of ammunition in Monchello Street, Wesbank. 

The 31-year-old male suspect,  is wanted on a string of cases that includes murder and attempted murder. He is a prominent member of a known gang. Preliminary information  indicates that the suspect was allegedly sent to kill a witness in another case in Eyeberry Street Westbank.

The suspect will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates' Court, on Monday 2021-06-21 on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter, Ravensmead Tracing Team was busy on Thursday morning with tracing duties at Delphi Street Eureka Estate Ravensmead when they searched a suspicious looking male loitering in the street. The 22-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol without a serial number and 26 rounds of ammunition in his pants pockets.  He is due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates court on Monday on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

On Friday 2021-06-18, in Leiden, Delft, SAPS members arrested two suspects aged 21 and 30 implicated in an armed robbery where the complainant was robbed of her handbag  and cellular telephone. The suspects were in possession of a zipgun and knife. Both suspects are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrates court on Monday 2021-06-21 once charged.
