WESTERN CAPE: 29 JUNE 2021 - The endeavours of the Flying Squad to bring safety to crime affected areas in this province led to the arrest of three suspects this morning in Harare. The members were patrolling the streets when they spotted a Nissan Micra with three male occupants who  appeared suspicious. The driver failed to stop the vehicle after he was ordered to do so and sped off. The pursuit ended when the vehicle collided with a wall in Town Two.

The occupants and the vehicle were searched which resulted in the discovery of a 9mm pistol without a serial number and ammunition. The vehicle was fitted with false number plates and the circumstances surrounding the legal ownership are also being investigated. Once charged, the suspects aged 38, 47 and 48 are expected to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated matter last night members of Mitchells Plain police were busy with patrols when they received information about drugs being sold at a house in Bietou Street, Eastridge, Mitchells Plain. When the members searched the premises they found 383 packets of tik straws in a plastic bag. The suspect, a 23-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs and is expected to make a court appearance in Mitchells Plain once he has been charged.
