WESTERN CAPE: 30 JUNE 2021 - In an crime intelligence driven operation yesterday, members attached to the Nyanga Cluster Task Team and the Western Cape Flying Squad arrested three male suspects aged 28, 30 and 32 for the possession  of stolen property.

The members were following up on information of alleged stolen vehicles being stripped on a premises in Second Avenue Zwelitsha, Nyanga. The information was operationalised, and at the mentioned address they found the three males, disassembling two vehicles, a BMW and an Audi. Information about the vehicles was followed up and found to be stolen on Nyanga and Muizenberg cases. The suspects are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates' Court once charged.

In an unrelated matter members attached to Philadelphia SAPS opened an inquiry for investigation after they discovered 11 bags of dagga on the N7, Philadelphia last night at about 20:55.

According to reports the members were patrolling on N7, Philadelphia towards Malmesbury when they saw a white Toyota Avanza parked alongside the road behind a truck. They stopped to assist but as they approached the Avanza two unknown males dropped a bag and ran away from the Avanza over the N7. The Avanza then drove off and members picked up the bag, put it in the vehicle and gave chase. Across from Tierhoogte on the N7 the Avanza slowed down after trying to cross the N7, the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle, and ran  across  the N7 and into the farms. The members gave chase but was unable to find the driver.

Upon closer inspection of the vehicle ,the members found another 10 bags of dagga. In total 11 bags of dagga were seized and handed in together with the Toyota Avanza as exhibits. The suspects are yet to be arrested and the investigations continues.

This morning at about 01:00 Mfuleni SAPS with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 28 year old male suspected, who is wanted in connection with the Wesbank double murder of the past weekend, in possession of an illegal firearm at a house in Main Road, Wesbank

The members followed up information on the whereabouts of the wanted suspect in the murder case which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning (2021-06-26) in Charlo Street in Wesbank. As the members entered the house, they found the suspect sleeping inside the house, in possession of a 9mm firearm and seven rounds. He was arrested and ownership of the firearms is yet to be determined. The firearm will also be sent to ballistics for analysis.

Once charged, he will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and the double murder.
