One suspect threw a firearm in one of the yards. Police recovered a Rossi 38 special revolver with five live rounds. They pursued the suspects and apprehended them. The firearm was reported stolen in February this year in Durbanville.

Another firearm was recovered yesterday  in the Samora Machel area and a 42-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition while nine live rounds and a magazine were also recovered during a Vehicle Control Point conducted on Tuesday in the Samora Machel area but the suspect managed to flee.

The trio is expected to appear in Athlone Magistrates' Court once charged for the possession of  illegal firearms and ammunition.

On Tuesday a tip off led to the recovery of 287 live rounds and 5 licensers  at the residence in Ny103 in Gugulethu. Police acted on information of firearms and drugs stored at the address. Police went to the address and recovered the rounds inside a shack behind the main hose. Police are busy following up on the suspect.

Four suspects are due in Athlone Magistrates' Court today following their arrest on business and house robbery cases which occurred in the area of Philippi East. Groceries and other stolen property were recovered in Marikana Informal Settlement.
