POSSIBLE ROLEX GANG SUSPECTS WERE NABBED BY THE POLICE IN SANDTON

Sandton: Police efforts and determination in eradicate criminal activities in the Sandton in the past weekend resulted in magnificent successes whereby two suspects of possible rolex gang and three cell phone snatchers were arrested in different incidents. On Saturday, 14th August 2021 at about 18:30, the victims were driving approaching the security gate at their destination in Aston Road, Sandton when a Silver Toyota halted and pumped the victim’s vehicle at the back.

Victim came out of the vehicle to check the damages. Two unknown males came out from the other vehicle, one of them was having a firearm in his hand. They demanded watch of the victim and went to collect all cell-phones of other two victims were inside the vehicle. The security officer who was patrolling the area spotted the vehicle within twenty minutes after receiving the information about the incident. They call the back-up and the suspects were cornered and one with firearm managed to escape.

All the items were recovered (3 samsung cellphones, 1 iPhone11, 1 Cartier watch) at the value of R 304 000. The utilised vehicle was suspected stolen and live ammunition in their possession. The suspects age 35 and 42 years old were arrested and charged for armed robbery and possession of suspected stolen property and possession of ammunition.

Another incident took place on Saturday, 14th August 2021 at about 19:30 in Edenburg, Sandton where three suspects at the ages of 22, 32 and 33 were nabbed by the police after long chase until Rivonia Road.

The suspects were driving Silver Renault Clio when one of them came out the vehicle and snatched victim’s cell phone. Few minutes later the victim saw police vehicle and reported the incident. Police took a chase to suspect’s vehicle up to the point that suspect’s vehicle lost control.

All three suspects were arrested and three cell phones were found in their possession including the victim’s phone. They were charged for Common Robbery. They will appear in court in the due course of the week.
