2021/08/19      |  Written By:  Captain G Meyer   |   Province:  Western Cape

Philippi-East: Concerted efforts by some community members to assist the police in the fight against crime continue to produce the desired results.

Two robbers were arrested for armed robbery as a result of tip-offs received by police members on patrol in Better Life informal settlement last night (Wednesday,18).

The suspects accosted their victim by threatening her with a firearm while she was busy shopping at a local shop in the neighborhood.

In an unrelated matter, a 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of stolen motor vehicle at his residence in Lower Cross Roads last night.

The vehicle was positive linked to a theft case that occurred in the Claremont policing precinct during October 2020.

All the suspects are currently in detention and will appear in court once charged.

We appealed to residents to keep reporting criminal activities in the area by phoning the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or reporting it via the MySAPS app, where they can provide tip-offs anonymously.
