ENTITIES FINED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER FOR TAX: KWAZULU-NATAL

KWAZULU-NATAL – Today, 19 August 2021 the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates' Court fined three entities for failing to register as VAT vender with the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

The three companies, Umunyeovou Trading (Pty) Ltd received R2 570 174.40 tender to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Department of Social Development, Bhomelela General Trading Enterprise (Pty) Ltd received R1.8 million tender to supply PPEs to the Department of Social Development and Velakabuha General Trading 2 cc also received R2 million tender to supply PPEs to the same department. Three of them failed to register as VAT vendors within a prescribed time.

Umunyeovou Trading (Pty) Ltd was fined R8000, Velakabuha General Trading 2 cc was fined R7000 and Bhomelela General Trading Enterprise (Pty) Ltd was fined R4000.
