TWO UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITIONS RECOVERED BY THE POLICE IN SANDTON OVER THE WEEKEND

Sandton: It is business as usual for police even during the pandemic period when daily duties like stop and searched are continuously conducted which led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms in Sandton over the weekend.

Two male occupants between the ages of 24 and 28 from Alexandra were stopped by the police on Saturday, 21th August 2021 at about 02:20, who were driving Honda at the corner of Impala and Spartan, East Gate, Sandton.

As the police stopped and requested to search the vehicle. During the search police found one unlicensed firearm with filed off serial number and three live ammunition was found in the car.

Another separate incident on the same day at about 19:35 at the corner of Bowling and Alma in Wendywood, Sandton police were called to attend the complaint of three male suspects (19, 24 and 30 ages) who were caught by Cap and ADT security officer in possession of unlicensed firearm. One (Revolver) unlicensed firearm was presented to police that was found in their possession.

The firearm was later circulated on Norwood SAPS case number as was stolen.

All the suspects will appear on Monday, 23rd August 2021 at Alexander Magistrates' Court.
